ETHICS AND SUSTAINABILITY

Yesterday People started out in Brisbane Australia as a small eco label in 2017 making groovy things using entirely vintage and recycled fabrics. As authentic vintage fabrics became harder and harder to find we decided to create OUR OWN groovy fabrics!

MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION
We use 'Make on demand' and 'Print on demand' models for our little business which means we produce your items when you place your order. By only printing and producing items when a customer places an order, there is already a know buyer. This means we avoid over production, no unsold inventory is contributed to landfill and we produce less waste..

All of our exclusive prints are designed inhouse and our 'Made in Australia' garments are manufactured in our small Brisbane studio.
Our other items are made using the same 'make on demand' model in Hong Kong and the USA and also have homewares made and drop shipped from Australia, the USA and UK.
All of our 'Make on demand' and "print on Demand' partners abide by local laws and regulations including absolutly no child labour and provide staff a legal working wage with fair working hours and a safe work environment.

FABRICS
Our Fabrics used in the pieces we produce in Australia are printed in Melbourne by a company that is accredided by Ethical clothing Australia and all Chemicals and colourants used in their printing process are Oeko-Tex approved.
Fabrics are printed with a water based Pigment Ink which uses no water and produces no waste in the printing process.
We try to use natural fibres or fabrics made from recycled yarn where possible and are always experimenting with new sustainable textiles.

As our small business continues to grow we are always looking for ways to improve our ethics and sustainability practices.
